Great Southern restaurants keeps encouraging me to attend one of their Maine Lobster Mondays and well… I decided to give in!
We were spending a few days over at Pensacola Beach and drove into Pensacola for this night at Jackson’s. My son surprised us with a gift card and we thought what a better way to spend the night dining on some lobster and enjoying the atmosphere at Jackson‘s.
Our server was Tonya and she was wonderful! Very attentive and knowledgeable of all the offerings at Jackson‘s. Of course this was in our first dance either so we looked forward to this event night.
Since Maine lobster is a very limited offering (i.e. there were only 45 lobsters available for this night) be sure to reserve early and let your server know you want lobster as soon as you are seated. They are usually gone within an hour of opening.
Our meal started with a couple of adult beverages for my son and wife. A chocolate espresso martini and a lemon drop martini. They were both very pleased with the drinks. Within shared a couple of starters with the oyster chowder, french onion soup and steakhouse chopped salad. All were very delicious! At last, the main course arrived with lobster all around. For sides, we selected the roasted wild mushrooms and brussel sprouts. They were all prepared and served with the usual Jackson’s flair and professionalism. In other words… Great!…
Our son capped off the evening by not only providing a gift card but also picking up tonight’s meal!
Unbelievable!… And well, with a gift card in hand I guess we will soon return! What a night.

Very Good

Overall, the experience was good. The food was very good. We shared the oysters and bacon appetizer. For mains I had the Tournedos and my wife had the fried Red Snapper. We had chocolate mousse and creme brulee for dessert. The food all arrived hot and was very good. Everything cooked and prepared perfectly.
We each had a cocktail and a glass of wine with dinner. As expected, the meal was quite expensive at close to $200 before tip.
My complaint was the service. With only a few in the restaurant, it took a while to get our drinks and for our server to greet us. When I told him I was wondering when he would come (sarcastically) he said he was busy getting drinks. Not sure how many tables he had, but he was consistently slow with everything. There were many support severs present, pouring water, etc. so say no reason for the service to be so slow.
Good food, but definitely not my favorite PNS restaurant.
