This was a beautiful, luxury hotel with a wonderful pool, kind staff (especially Lien who helped make our stay so lovely), great breakfast buffet, and comfortable, modern rooms - we stayed in the loft and loved the split level with two bathrooms!
The reason for the four rather than five stars have to do with two instances at the hotel. The first was on a day it was pouring rain we left breakfast with our coffee cups to finish them in our room. We were then chased into the hallway and told we couldn’t bring any food to our room. I thought maybe it was the cup so asked if they had a paper cup but the answer was no and we had to hand over our half drunk coffees like scolded children before we were able to go to our room. I understand not being able to take a whole plate of food from the buffet to your room but not being able to finish your coffee seemed a bit extreme and left us with a bad feeling. The second was after returning from a long tour with bahn mi sandwiches we were excited to eat until we were told we could not eat them anywhere outside (by the pool or at the tables surrounding the pool) and had into go to our room to eat. Again, just a small rule that detracts from your experience at the hotel and makes you feel like they are doing whatever they can at the expense of guests feelings to get them to purchase their expensive food and drinks - which we did do on other days! If the hotel relaxes its strict policies just little (let guests bring their half drunk coffee to their rooms and eat at outdoor tables) then we would have felt like we could move more freely without being scolded and it would certainly be a five star rating for me.
