Translated by Bing
This reserve has a total area of about 20,300 hectares, is an arc formed by a mountain system 1,500 - 2,300 m high. Due to the relatively high altitude, visitors can feel the cold even on warm sunny days.

The scene of the mountainous forest taken on January 28 belongs to Mu Cang Chai species and habitat reserve, located in the communes of Fabrication, Nam Khat, Pung Luong, Lao Chai and Cricket Xu Phong, about 10 km from Mu Cang Chai town. This reserve has a total area of about 20,300 hectares, is an arc formed by a mountain system 1,500 - 2,300 m high. Due to the relatively high altitude, visitors can feel the cold even on warm sunny days.

Located on the Hoang Lien Son mountain strip, Mu Cang Chai mountain forest is considered the most beautiful primeval forest with high biodiversity. There are many species of broadleaf, coniferous trees and rich flora and fauna, endemic such as spruce, rhododendron, javelin oak, jet black gibbon or gray langur. On the photo is an ancient rhododendron covered in moss and forest orchids on the side of a mountain.

Mu Cang Chai has a diverse and unique bird system of the Northwest region with nearly 140 species, many rare and endemic birds. Some birds can only be found here but are hard to see anywhere else. Visitors can find several species such as black-headed bush sparrow, brown-breasted cottontail, black-crowned pine sparrow, cow, white-throated earthen painter in apple and cat orchards, slashed at an altitude of about 1,200 m.

Continuing to explore to an altitude of about 1,600 - 1,800 m, visitors will encounter birds such as large-billed crested greetings (pictured), mountain branches, flower shells, large slopes or rufous-headed flycatchers. Large-billed crested greeting has a yellow-green body, a gray head with a high and forward-curved crest. The beak is large and ivory-white, living in large flocks.

Rufous-breasted earth painter Photographed at an altitude of about 1,700 m, this shy bird usually feeds singly or in pairs. They are brown with a red beak. The face is black with white eyebrow and throat streaks.

On the photo is long-tailed, the bird is small, with a red rufous forehead with a black streaked throat and cheeks, a white neck cavity and an orange rim on the chest extending to under the wings. This is probably the prettiest bird of the jungle, no one comes to photograph birds in Mu Cang Chai without paying attention to this small bird with a lovely face. They often walk in large flocks and call each other a little, which can be seen at an altitude of 1,800 m.

Altitudes of about 1,800 m or more are also home to the most precious treasures of life, including species Rufous-headed flycatcher warbler. This is a small bird about 10 cm, with a bright and colorful color, always active jumping very quickly.

Nepalese honeysucker It is a colorful honeysucker with a light green head and tail, a dark red upper back, and a bright yellow underside.

Climbing the Hungarian ass tree distributed only in the Northwest and Central Highlands. They are grey on the back and white on the underbelly, with a thin black streak extending from the base of the beak to the shoulders. This bird can be identified by the dark rufousness on the flanks and under the tail with scaly streaks.

The area of 1,800 - 2,300 m is where a number of rare birds such as the small ground babbler, Yunnan zebra-tailed babbler, black-chinned flat-billed babbler, red-faced babbler, truncated babbler (endemic to Vietnam) or grey-throated ground babbler are found very narrowly distributed and rare.

Living alone, quietly under shrubland at an altitude of about 2,000 m is a species small penguin-tailed ground babbler (pictured) With a tiny size like jackfruit seeds, brown backs with lighter ventral surfaces make them easy to camouflage and hide. The right to record them on the first day but until the last day before returning was lucky enough to take a series of satisfactory pictures of this species.

Black-chinned flat-billed babbler A large species in the group of flat-billed babblers with yellow beaks, large black feathers on the cheeks, top of the head and thorax with black lines. In the breeding season, they usually go in pairs.

Yunnan zebra-tailed babbler It is a medium-sized bird, easily recognizable by its bright brown body with many black stripes on the wings and tail feathers. They usually walk in small groups or sometimes meet in pairs to feed together.

"Yunnan zebra-tailed babblers don't impress me with their appearance, but the act of flirting with their partners and standing together, lovingly suggesting something very lovely," he said.
