In the place of the special name - Longzhou Jade Eye

Translated by Bing
Longzhou Lighthouse is located on the island of the same name in Haiphong. This building was built in 1894, has played a guiding role for ships and boats for more than 100 years.

Longzhou Island is not a tourist destination and is not inhabited. But this is still a place for those who want to set foot on historical landmarks in the territory of Vietnam.

Uninhabited island

Longzhou Island (or Turn of Lights) is one of them. This island is in the territory of Hai Phong, about 50 km from the city center. This is considered an outpost to guard the mouth of Ha Long Sea (Quang Ninh) and Hai Phong. There are no people living here, only officials, workers, soldiers of Longzhou Lighthouse Station and Longzhou Border Guard Observation Station.

My climb started from Pillar Mo, crossing the rocky mountain about 300 m to reach the top. The distance is quite short compared to other mountains I have conquered, but the view gives me a very interesting experience. The rocky terrain here reminds me of mountain cliffs in Ha Giang. The island has many sharp cat ear rocks that easily scratch the skin, visitors should wear protective clothing, hiking boots to ensure safety.

Watch the sunset from a lighthouse over 100 years old

Long Chau Island, Dau Island (Hai Phong) and Ke Ga (Binh Thuan) have some of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam. The lighthouse in Longzhou was built by a Frenchman in 1894. People who know the island often call the island with the affectionate name of "Longzhou pearl eye".

For decades, the lighthouse has served as a guide for tens of thousands of ships and boats entering and leaving the Gulf of Tonkin. In addition to the spire, the view from the bay of eagle trees looking down is equally beautiful. In the process of exploring the island, I stayed at a fish raft of people who came here to fish, live, sleep, and rest on the sea. In addition, the seafood here is quite fresh, the best I have ever eaten.

Although not a professional tourist destination, Long Chau Island still attracts those who want to explore majestic nature, and set foot in special landmarks in the territory of Vietnam. There is currently no place on the island for tourists to stay, and permission to visit the island must be obtained from the local border guard. The waiting time for processing is quite long, you should register early, 3-5 days from the departure date.

The island does not allow foreign visitors because it is a military island. Therefore, foreign tourists can only see this island through photos and know more about a beautiful and impressive place on the Vietnam tourism map.
