In the Tay language, the mountain is called Phja Piót, which means the mountain has a hole in it. Locals often call it Thong Mountain and tourists are also gradually getting used to this name. And international scientists, when researching and completing the dossier of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark, gave the mountain an extremely romantic name "Mountain Angel Eye", which means "Mountain Angel Eye".

From Cao Bang city to Mat Than mountain is about 50 km, so you can travel by car or motorbike is suitable. However, if you want to enjoy all the beautiful scenery of Cao Bang, you should go by motorbike to see the streams and passes while walking.
Mat Than Mountain is about 100m high, looking from a distance like a giant blue tower-shaped block in the middle of the valley. In the rainy season, the water from Nam Tra waterfall flows gushing and foaming white, creating an extremely impressive scene. Although the waterfall is not high and multi-layered, it forms a white silk strip gently winding around the charming mossy rocks.
