Having the opportunity to come to Ban Danh village, Quoc Toan commune, Tra Linh district, you should visit Mat Than mountain located in the complex of Thang Hen lake of Cao Bang Non Nuoc Geopark. Surrounding the mountain is a large valley with long green grasses, pristine scenery, peace and tranquility with herds of horses grazing leisurely.
In the Tay language, the mountain is called Phja Piót, meaning the mountain has a hole punctured. Locals often call Thuc Mountain and tourists also gradually get used to this name. International scientists, when researching and completing the profile of Cao Bang Non Nuoc Global Geopark, gave the mountain an extremely romantic name "Mountain Angel Eye", meaning Mountain Angel Eye.
From Cao Bang city to Mat Than mountain is about 50 km, so you can travel by car or motorbike are suitable. However, if you want to enjoy all the beautiful scenery of Cao Bang, you should go by motorbike to both go and see the streams and passes.
Eye of God Mountain is about 100m high, looking from a distance like a giant green tower in the middle of the valley. A special highlight is the hole that penetrates the mountain bed with the widest diameter of about 35 m. This masterpiece of nature was formed during geological tectonics that took place tens of millions of years ago, is a rare unique feature in the limestone mountain system in Vietnam.

In the rainy season, the water from Nam Trá waterfall flows torrentially, white foam creates an extremely impressive scene. Although the waterfall is not high and multi-tiered, it forms white silk strips gently bending around the mossy rocks gracefully.
In the dry season, when winter passes and spring comes, right at the foot of Mat Than Mountain, the bottom of Nam Trá Lake is covered with velvety grass. Looking around somewhere are horses or cows grazing, bringing a very peaceful feeling. The surrounding layers of mountains and hills highlight the Eye of God mountain in the middle, creating a poetic and calm scene.
Walking along the trails near the mountain, you can visit Ban Danh village with yin-yang tile stilt houses, stone fences, rice fields, corn fields ... of the Tay people in the region.
With that poetic natural beauty, Mat Than Mountain has become one of the new destinations and is also favorably named "Wonderful cup" - a place with a cup but beautiful scenery.
