Beautiful autumn days in Ba Be Lake

Translated by Bing
After 200 kilometers of National Highway Three to reach Bac Kan town, the road turns from Phu Thong, zigzagging through mountains through hills. The brilliant golden rice carpets appeared in the autumn sunshine. The scenery began to change. The car gradually entered the core of Ba Be National Forest, which was covered with thousands of trees.

Ba Be Lake belongs to Nam Mau Commune, Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province. Locals call Ba Be Slam Pé, meaning three lakes. The name comes from the fact that the lake is the confluence of 3 tributaries of Pé Sai, Pé Lù and Pé Leng. The lake is 500ha wide, with an average depth of 17-23m, the bottom of the lake is covered with a layer of clay 200m thick. Thanks to this clay layer, water does not drain out, forming a lake. Not only is it in the top 20 largest freshwater lakes in the world, since 2004, the lake has also been recognized as an ASEAN heritage park.

More than 6 hours by car, the crab path follows the mountains along the river, crabbing through simple, rustic villages. Nature embraces a vast embrace of heaven and earth, wrapped up, creating a separate Three Pools.

A few houses on stilts loomed behind the trees in the distance, the roof tiles dark and mixed with the color of the grass. Pac Ngoi village has just over two dozen roofs, most of which have opened homestay services (staying with people) for guests. The wooden stilt houses are tall and airy with long corridors overlooking open fields and clear blue lakes.

After lunch, we had a relaxing afternoon with Ba Be waves. The light motorboat glided across the calm blue lake. A kingfisher suddenly plunged into the lake bed and struck its wings and flew up right next to the edge of the boat. A few white storks wandered in the corner of the green island, feeding jars. The poison boats were as slender as leaves. People in the area rely on shrimp and fish fishing on the lake. The blue water penetrated to the bottom, casting the shadows of the sun and trees, a deep blue covering the surface of the lake. The preservation of environmental hygiene here is done carefully. We encountered quite a few boats carrying tourists downstream. Most guests stay outside, only visit the lake one afternoon and then leave for another location.

We spent a few minutes visiting Bran village, a Tay village located in the heart of Ba Be lake. The road into the village is bamboo ball. Each house is quite far apart and is located at an elevated level. The motorbike is located close to the small dirt road because the house still has no way up, so the motorbike must be left below, walk up to the house. In the afternoon, a thin mist had enveloped the lake and the wind was cold. The sound of buffalo muzzles followed the children and left. We also hurried back to the village before the sun finally died out on the horizon. The night was quiet in the cool bungalow. A good night's sleep after a day of wandering. The rustling of the wind lulled us into a peaceful sleep.

For several years now, Ba Be Lake has become a favorite weekend destination for foreign guests. It's a place where you can mingle with nature, where there is only the sound of birds singing, the rustling of dry leaves under your feet, the sound of water clicking under the paddleboard. Where you have real respite.
