Bay Mau coconut forest is located in village 7, Cam Thanh commune, Hoi An city, right near Cua Dai bridge, about 4 km from Hoi An ancient town. The name Bay Mau is because in the past, the coconut forest in this country had an area of about 7 acres. Currently, the coconut forest area has been developed much larger, but the name Bay Mau is still maintained.
During the resistance war, Bay Mau coconut forest used to be an important base for the Vietnamese army and people. The green coconut canopy, running for thousands of years on the river inadvertently became a shield to protect the village, feeding many generations of people during the years of fierce war. Today, this place is likened to "the west of the river in the heart of Hoi An", opening up many opportunities for tourism development, helping to enrich this land.

The ideal time to travel to Bay Mau coconut forest is in the dry season from January to September. Especially in August and September is the time when coconut forests are at their most beautiful. Although the weather is hot, the air in the coconut forest is quite cool and fresh. It is recommended to avoid going in November and December, because then Hoi An enters the rainy season, strong winds, and storms may appear, which will affect your schedule.
When coming to the coconut forest, visitors will experience sitting on a basket boat, floating on the river, weaving into small creeks, and gazing at the rows of green coconuts right in sight. In addition, visitors can also truly feel the attractive performances of boaters when challenging themselves with basket spinning. If you want to feel the authentic basket spinning, visitors can hire professionals, priced at 50,000 VND/spin, lasting about 1-2 minutes. Accordingly, visitors will gently move from their basket boat to the boat of the "worker" spinning the basket. People with vestibular disease, motion sickness, and poor health should not play basketball, they may faint with dizziness.
Cam Thanh coconut forest tourist area is open from 7 am to 5 pm daily. The price of a basket is 150,000 VND for 2 people, the travel time is about 45-50 minutes. On each basket, there are 2 boxes and 2 cones available for visitors to shade from the sun. If you call to book a ticket before arrival, visitors will be picked up right from outside and get a free entrance ticket priced at 30,000 VND/person. Note that it is recommended to go to the coconut forest at 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. or in the afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to have a better experience, avoiding the peak of the sun.
