Thrilling kitesurfing in Mui Ne

Translated by Bing
Visitors to Mui Ne (Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan) cannot help but enjoy the image of hundreds of colorful kites flying in the blue sky. On the surface of the sea, players skillfully surf on the waves, performing movements to rise out of the water.

Windsurfing, kitesurfing was introduced to Vietnam about 15 years ago and Ham Tien - Mui Ne beach is considered the most favorable place in Vietnam to experience this sport. Mui Ne has the advantage of weather conditions, with steady winds and moderately high waves, creating tornadoes perfect for extreme sports. In addition, this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam, clear and safe, with no dangerous reefs or coral reefs.

In recent years, the Ham Tien - Mui Ne sea has become a gathering place for many professional and amateur athletes. The ideal wind season for this sport is from November of the previous year to March of the following year. This is the period when the Northeast monsoon blows strongly and continuously, producing large and long winds.

With year-round sunny weather and high winds, Binh Thuan has been introduced by Asia One's travel page in the Top 5 "paradises" of adventure experiences in Asia including: Kitesurfing in Mui Ne (Vietnam), Indoor skydiving in Sentosa (Singapore), coral diving in Palawan (Philippines), conquer Everest Base Camp (Nepal), and bungee jump in Macau (China).

According to a coach in Mui Ne, kitesurfing requires players to have both physical strength and technique and proficiency in swimming. The wind is very strong when the parachute wings are stretched in the sky, tourists must firmly grasp the rope, stretch themselves and control the paraglider above and the ski below their feet.

International visitors to Phan Thiet to participate in kitesurfing mainly come from countries in Europe such as Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Russia, the Czech Republic and a few from the US, Canada or Australia. Currently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province has issued certificates of eligibility for operation for 17 enterprises doing business and providing kitesurfing services.

In recent years, Binh Thuan province has also organized many kitesurfing competitions to promote Vietnam tourism and attract many professional and amateur male and female athletes from many countries around the world. In addition to kitesurfing, tourists can also learn to surf, sail or dive.

A surfing course for novice tourists usually takes about 02 hours and costs about 01 million VND. The above cost includes all tools such as boards, leash and instructors. After the course, most tourists can play by themselves and can rent boards to practice. The cost of renting boards will then be 150,000 VND/h.

In 2024, Binh Thuan will organize many marine sports and entertainment activities such as: The 23rd Windsurf Open Race "the 23rd Mui Ne Fun Cup 2024"; Vietnam Festrival Binh Thuan 2024 takes place from March 22 to March 24, 2024; Stop and Run Marathon Binh Thuan 2024 takes place from May 17 to May 19, 2024; Phu Quy - Binh Thuan Soup Rowing Festival 2024 takes place from 02/5 to 04/5/2024...
