Experience exploring Ly Son Island

Translated by Bing
Ly Son Island (Quang Ngai) with its pristine sea scenery will be a place not to be missed if you come to the Central region this summer. Let's pocket the Ly Son travel experiences compiled by Migo right here.

Overview

Located in the waters off the coast of Quang Ngai province, Ly Son is a masterpiece that combines special geology with a clear and deserted coastline. The island is where 5 extinguished craters leave traces by cliffs, black rocks that plunge into the sea or separate fields. Without long sandy beaches and green coconut groves, Ly Son is for those who love wild and idyllic beauty.

It only takes about 30 minutes by high-speed boat or 1 hour and a half to 2 hours by regular boat from Sa Ky port (Quang Ngai), you will arrive at Ly Son Island. Each train ticket ranges from 150,000 VND to 180,0000 VND. In addition, there is now a high-speed boat from Da Nang to Ly Son, which is extremely convenient for tourists who want to explore the Central Sea. On the island, you can walk or move by motorbike. Motorbikes are rented for 100,000-150,000 VND/day to help you freely explore the small island. Ly Son is relatively small and the roads are good, so you can completely go all over the island. You can stroll along the coastal roads or crash into the small roads in the village, through the garlic fields to learn about the life of the people.

The appropriate time of year to go to Ly Son is from February to September, when the weather is dry, there is little rain, and the sea is calm. May to August is the most ideal time because the sea is clear and sunny. You should avoid going to Ly Son from October to January next year, because this is the rainy and stormy season in the Central region.

Catch the sunrise at the top of Thoi Loi mountain

The top of Thoi Loi mountain is located near the flagpole of Ly Son. The road to the top of Thoi Loi mountain is narrow, zigzag, craggy on the slope but not too bad. As the highest volcanic peak on the island, Thoi Loi Mountain is a huge crater in the east of Ly Son. Thoi Loi Lake is a crater that has been extinguished, catches rainwater and becomes a freshwater lake, which has long been used as a reservoir for living water for residents of Ly Son Island. From the top of Thoi Loi Mountain, you can see the panorama of Dong village and garlic fields with patches of blue, brown, and white that are alternating like a picture embraced by clear blue sea water. At sunrise or sunset, when the sun sprinkles gentle rays of sunshine on the garlic fields, the sea breeze blows in each blow, standing on Thoi Loi mountain, you can feel the peace of the land of Ly Son in every moment.

Check-in at To Vo gate

From the gate to Ly Son Island, turn left and follow the small road to Duc Pagoda, you will encounter a curved rock protruding above the sea surface. That is the To Vo gate. To Vo Gate is 2.5m high, has a unique shape formed from volcanic lava eroded under the impact of seawater. The black lava rock pattern emerging in the middle of the clear blue sea not only attracts tourists with its rare beauty, but this place has also become a symbol of Ly Son. The sunset at the arch gate is beautiful like a picture that nature bestows on the island district of Quang Ngai province.
