Ruc Mon Cave - a little-known gem in the heart of Quang Binh

Translated by Bing
Hidden in the mountains and forests of Minh Hoa, Quang Binh province, Ruc Mon cave possesses a mysterious and impressive beauty, attracting tourists to explore and challenge their limits.

Located stretching from Trung Hoa commune to Hoa Son commune (Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province), Ruc Mon is a cave with a length of 2,862 m, the ceiling height of the cave is about 300 m. To fully explore and experience Ruc Mon cave, visitors can choose a 2D1N trekking itinerary or a day tour.

This is a cave through the mountain with two main gates located in Trung Hoa commune and Hoa Son commune. To get to the cave entrance, visitors have to go through a trekking journey of about 2 km. The road to the door in Hoa Son is considered more difficult, in return for owning impressive scenery.

The cave has a length of 2,863 m, the ceiling is more than 300 m high, and there are many underground rivers flowing around the cave. The reason why the cave is called Ruc Mo is because this used to be the residence of the Ruc ethnic people and ''Mo'' is the traces of people who used to live here. Ruc Mo means the dwelling place of the Ruc people. This cave system consists of dry caves and wet caves. Participants will have to hike, swim through the entrance, cross several rivers and currents including those in the cave with the support of ropes.

The journey takes you from one surprise to another when looking at the stalactite columns of many interesting shapes, emerald green calcium pools. In particular, the ceiling area is large with many colors, when illuminated to create a scene like standing under the Milky Way.

Swimming and soaking in cool water is one of the experiences not to be missed when exploring Ruc Mo. The back door of the cave, where the jade green water gently drifts, is an ideal place to rest and have fun after a long time of traveling. Participants get acquainted with the cave by swimming in the cave and exploring the lower floors of the cave. The water here is always clear green, the bottom is clearly visible when it is not raining.

The important destination is to conquer the Foggy stalactite mountain, which is more than 400 meters high. At this altitude, the entire ceiling of the cave is covered with a dense, mysterious layer of fog. Here, visitors are instructed by the guide and a team of safety assistants to use ropes and safety belts to climb the mountain safely.

The deeper you go, the easier it is for visitors to see the stalactite columns that have been in the process of forming. There are even stalactite columns that collapse because they cannot bear their own weight, increasing the difficulty for explorers, requiring a lot of strength to overcome these sections.

The fossil snake grave area and Foggy stalactite mountain are covered with dense fog all year round that brings mystery and attracts visitors. The snake grave is located near the ceiling of the cave, so people have to "climb the cave" to reach this area. The terrain here is humid all year round, slippery, the journey is quite long, to ensure safety and have the best experience, visitors participating in the tour must be in good health, without a history of cardiovascular and bone and joint diseases.
