Chudang Ya is a volcano that has been dormant for millions of years. The crater is funnel-shaped, about 500 m above sea level.
Chu Dang Ya (Jrai, Chu means mountain, Dang Ya is wild ginger root) is located in Ploi lagri village, Chu Dang Ya commune, Chu Pah district, about 30 km northeast of Pleiku city center and 20 km from the famous Bien Ho tourist spot. Chu Dang Ya is known as the paradise of wildflowers, in the top 10 most attractive destinations of Gia Lai province.
In November every year, on the hillsides and streams in Gia Lai, the colors of wildflowers are bright yellow. For the people of the Central Highlands, wildflowers are a flower that signals the arrival of winter.
Most of the wildflowers here grow wild and grow naturally. To fully enjoy the peaceful scenery of Gia Lai with the green patches of mountains and forests and the yellow of wildflowers on the basalt red ground, visitors can walk to the top of the mountain, which takes about 20 minutes. The golden color covered from the entrance to the hillsides and then fell to the foot like a soft gold carpet.
The path leading to Chu Dang Ya volcano is a road with two rows of bright yellow wildflowers stretching out. This is a place that attracts many tourists to check in and take pictures. The wildflower season in Chu Dang Ya attracts a large number of tourists of all ages from many provinces and cities. Many people jog and cycle here early in the morning to watch the sunrise, take pictures with wildflowers before this place becomes crowded after about 8-9 am.
Visitors can see locals leading cows to eat between two rows of wildflower trees. On the children's bicycle baskets are clusters of bright yellow wildflowers.
The best time to take photos with wildflowers is early in the morning, from 5:30 to 7:30, when the sun has just risen and the light is moderate. There are not many people coming at this time, so visitors have many "virtual life" corners without having to crowd or wait. In the afternoon, the sunset sun shines down on the valley of wildflowers, which is also very poetic. But because Chu Dang Ya is obscured by the higher peak of Chu Nam, the sun often goes out early.
This year, the wildflower festival on Chu Dang Ya mountain takes place from November 8 to 14, the focus is from November 10 to 12 at the village house Ia Gri (Chu Dang Ya commune).
Visiting Chu Dang Ya on this occasion, in addition to seeing the beauty of wildflowers, visitors can camp on a picnic and participate in many activities to explore the beauty of local culture. During the week, there will be many sports activities such as: pushing sticks, walking stilts, tug of war, sack jumping, folk games; conquering the top of Chu Dang Ya volcano, performing gongs, brocade weaving, knitting, sculpting statues; restoring the festival "Celebrating new rice" of the Jrai people, according to the website of Gia Lai province.
On the way to Chu Dang Ya volcano, visitors can experience the hundred-year-old pine road, visit Ho Che Beach, Buu Minh Pagoda, Ngo Son ripe rice field.
