Owning a coastline of 56km, located in a tropical monsoon climate, Bac Lieu is an ideal land to build wind power fields. Among them, Bac Lieu wind power field is located in Vinh Trach Dong commune, 10km from Bac Lieu city, with the largest scale. This is also the first wind farm in Vietnam and in Southeast Asia to be built on the continental shelf and is the largest wind power project in the country. This project is a symbol of Bac Lieu, making a great contribution to the development of the energy industry in particular and the local economy in general.
Wind power fields take advantage of the incoming sea breeze to produce electricity. Not only providing clean energy, with special beauty, Bac Lieu wind power field has quickly become a tourist destination attracting a large number of tourists to enjoy in the journey to discover the Southwest.
From Bac Lieu city, to reach the wind power field, you follow Cao Van Lau street to the sea; in the area of Bien Dong A hamlet, Vinh Trach Dong commune will come to the blower field. On the way, you will pass the ancient longan garden, Siem Can Pagoda. Currently, the road to the wind power field has been renovated, so it is quite easy to move. Along the road are the shrimp and fish farming fields of coastal people.
The whole wind power field is covered with the blue of the sky and water. On the green background, the striking white turbines create a huge garden-like scenery. There are a total of 62 turbine towers with a capacity of 16 - 83MW, on an area of 1,300 hectares. Each turbine pillar is 4m in diameter, 80m high, weighs more than 200 tons, and is made of stainless steel. The propellers are made of special plastic, 42m long, equipped with a self-folding system during a major storm. The towers and wind turbines of the plant are all located on the coast. Inside is a protective forest that creates a green and fresh scenery.
On the sea surface, there are floating concrete lines that help visitors move easily to the turbine towers.
Few people know that this place used to be a wild land, vast with cork forests, mangroves, intertwined with ponds, lakes, and canals. Since the turbine towers were erected on the water, the scenery of the land has changed completely with giant wind turbines that are too high to the eye.
Outside the wind power field, there is a sea stone fence to prevent soil erosion. The rocks are arranged alternately, forming a "stone fence" to prevent sea erosion, causing soil erosion. Before the Covid-19 epidemic, the wind power field welcomed about 200 thousand visitors to check-in each year. Once standing in the middle of the "giant chong su", everyone will feel overwhelmed by the scale and bewildered by the poetic beauty of the field.
The right time for you to come to Bac Lieu wind power field is early in the morning from 6:00 – 9:00 or after 16:00. This is the most beautiful time of the day. You can admire the sunrise and sunset in the calm air on the beach. For only 30,000 VND, visitors can buy a ticket to explore and take photos to check-in.
