In December, the northern mountainous provinces enter the winter with characteristic beauty. Coming to Moc Chau from this time, visitors should visit tea gardens, canola gardens or Hang Tau valley to enjoy the natural scenery.
Moc Chau Tea Hill
The tea hill is located opposite Moc Chau Tea Company, about 2 km from the center of Moc Chau Farm town. Here there are rows of shan tuyet tea more than 60 years old located close to each other on an area of more than 4,000 hectares.
From December to February is the time when people prune old tea branches so that the trees produce new buds around the beginning of summer. At this time, the entire tea hill was dark green. Each tea bed is trimmed neatly, looking from a distance like a vast green carpet.
When the sun rises, a thin layer of mist still covers the tea hills, creating a hazy scene.
The tea hills in Moc Chau are open to visitors and take photos for free. Visitors can ride motorbikes on the trail to visit all the tea farm hills and find various shooting angles.
Guests can buy teas to enjoy and make gifts such as centennial white tea, Dinh Xuan tea, oolong tea with prices ranging from a few hundred to several million VND per kg.
Na Ka and Mu Nau plum orchards
Moc Chau has about 1,300 hectares of plums, according to the district portal. The plum blossom season in Moc Chau usually lasts about a month, depending on the weather and humidity, the blooming time will be different. In December, many plum orchards have begun to bloom, before visiting, guests should call the garden owner to update the flower situation.
The two valleys with the largest plum planting area and also visited by many people when coming to Moc Chau are Na Ka and Mu Nau. In particular, Na Ka is an easy point to move, plum orchards stretch on both sides of the road, suitable for tourists to enjoy the scenery.
For those who like adventure, coming to Mu Nau valley to see the view of rocky mountains blooming with white plum blossoms is a suggestion. The road to Mu Nau has many dangerous steep passes, not for people with weak steering. However, there is a motorbike taxi service to shuttle into the valley for guests to conveniently experience.
The ideal time to take pictures of the plum garden is from 9 am to 4 pm, guests should not go too early because the dew has not dissipated and too late will turn off the sun.
Broccoli Garden
The canola hill area in Chieng Xuan commune (photo), nearly 30 km from the center of Moc Chau town, is a place with a large area and flowers blooming from the beginning of December.
The route to Chieng Xuan Cai hill is suitable for off-road vehicles and motorbikes because of the dirt road, many steep and bumpy slopes. From National Highway 6, visitors go in the direction of pine forest - Ban Coc - Chieng Xuan, the total distance is about 15 km but it is difficult to walk. If moving in the direction of Dai Yem waterfall - Chieng Ve farm - Chieng Son - Chieng Xuan border guard post, the distance is about 30 km long, it takes a long time but the road is wide.
In addition to Chieng Xuan, visitors can see white mustard flowers in Pa Phach village, Na Ka valley, Bo Bun village, Moc Chau tea hill area (photo), but the flower field here is smaller.
When visiting and taking photos of the cabbage garden, guests pay attention not to go up to the beds, damaging the crops and crops of the people.
Visitors can take more photos with five-color flowers, crab claws, state flowers, wildflowers in both meadows or along the road to the cabbage garden.
Hang Tau
Tau Cave belongs to Ta No. 1 village, Chieng Hac commune, 18 km from the town, is considered one of the pristine places of the Moc Chau plateau.
In the past two years, the H'Mong people in Hang Tau have gradually shifted their livelihood from agriculture to tourism. Visitors buy tickets for 30,000 VND per person. The road from Ta No. 1 village to Hang Tau valley is about 7 km of rocky and bumpy roads, customers are not sure if the driver can rent a motorbike taxi for 150,000 VND to go and return.
Hang Tau village of the H'Mong people in winter has a poetic landscape with green steppes and plum blossom gardens blooming by the corn fields. Visitors come here to experience the life of the local people, learn how to embroider traditional patterns on skirts, dig bamboo shoots, catch chickens, cook and enjoy corn wine.
Pha Luong Peak
30 km from Moc Chau town, Pha Luong peak is located in the middle of the Vietnam-Laos border, more than 2,000 m high, which is likened to the roof of Moc Chau.
Visitors can experience trekking to climb the peak here, the time from Pha Luong border guard station to the top is about 3-4 hours. In December, the weather in Moc Chau is dry, many people choose to trek Pha Luong to have the opportunity to see peach blossoms and plum blossoms blooming in the middle of the forest.
The Pha Luong climbing route has many beautiful but dangerous scenery because of many rocky slopes, narrow trails winding through ravines, guests need to learn and prepare carefully before climbing.
The view of the sea of floating clouds with a 360-degree view is the highlight when reaching the top of Pha Luong on favorable weather days. Guests pay attention to safety observation when playing on the rocky outcrop, should not be too risky to take pictures.
Moc Chau is nearly 200 km from Hanoi. Travel time is about 4-5 hours. If traveling by motorbike, guests should follow the old National Highway 6 because the scenery along the road is beautiful. If you take a bus, you should choose the routes to Son La from My Dinh or Yen Nghia bus station, then get off at Moc Chau and rent a motorbike to move to tourist attractions to experience.
The weather in Moc Chau in January averages about 15-17 degrees Celsius, visitors should bring warm clothes.
