24h on the paradise island of Cu Lao Cau

Translated by Bing
Cu Lao Cau (also known as Hon Cau) in Binh Thuan province possesses a pristine beauty blessed by nature with stretches of white sand, clear blue sea water clearly seeing the bottom, stretching coral shelf attracting visitors who love experience activities.

At 14h, our group was at Lien Huong port to board the ship departing for Hon Cau. The small island is about 9 km from the mainland, travel time is about 20-30 minutes with a return ticket price of 400,000 VND / person. As soon as they set foot on the island, the group was immediately attracted by the clear blue sea. We quickly chose for ourselves a suitable place to pitch our tent, starting the journey to explore the paradise island.

This island is also Hon Cau marine sanctuary - where each year sea turtles welcome here to breed. There are handmade models of sea turtles and colorful fish, attracting visitors to take check-in photos. Surrounding Cu Lao Cau is a coral shelf about 2 km long, preserved quite intact with 234 types of colorful corals. With swimming goggles and life jackets, the group delighted in immersing themselves in the cool water, swimming with schools of fish, diving to see the rich world of marine life. There is no fresh water on the island, so we have to buy bath water for 20,000 VND / bucket from a small grocery store.

After a diving bath, the group began cooking dinner using ingredients brought from the mainland. Dinner on the island includes seafood hotpot, grilled fish and rice paper rolls. The night on the island was quiet. The group relaxed on the beach rug watching the starry sky, filling their chests with the smell of the sea breeze, listening to the sound of waves crashing in their ears.

After breakfast, the group strolled around the other beaches on the island. As a military island, many places place signs prohibiting visitors from visiting. Following the trail, the group got lost in an area with thousands of stone blocks of various shapes stacked on top of each other.

With semi-desert terrain, mainly many low shrubs, Cu Lao Cau Island brings the sunshine and wind typical of the climate of the South Central Sea. Around 10:00 a.m., the group gathered their tents and boarded the boat back to the mainland. The trip lasted less than 24 hours, leaving people with impressive experiences that few places have. Tourism on the island is still limited, suitable for young people who love to explore the natural beauty.
