This is one of the most famous temples in Soc Trang. This is an ancient Buddhist temple, built in 1785, up to now, after nearly 300 years, there have been 12 abbots. Similar to Sro Loun Pagoda whose name comes from natural things, its name Som Rong is also derived from a plant that grew wild around the temple from ancient times.
For local people, Som Rong Pagoda is a particularly important place not only due to religious beliefs, but also because this temple has a large library with more than 1500 books, serving children and relatives in this place.
With many special details such as: The stupa is covered with a mysterious gray instead of the usual yellow; The reclining Buddha statue is more than 63 meters long, about 28 meters above the ground, plus the height of 22 meters makes the statue extremely majestic; Som Rong Pagoda is often chosen by many tourists to visit.

An homage to learning and tradition. We loved wandering through this tranquil complex and learning about Vietnam's rich history.
