Egg coffee is a "specialty" that can only be enjoyed in Vietnam. This is a drink invented by Mr. Nguyen Van Giang in 1946 and has now become a must-try drink when coming to Hanoi.
Over nearly 8 decades, the "legendary" egg coffee cup at Cafe Giang still uses ingredients including eggs, condensed milk, coffee powder, butter... as a family recipe.
This dish is made by beating eggs and condensed milk into custard cream, putting it on top of coffee, scooping it up and mixing well. The cream is thick and smooth. It's like drinking custard cream, and it's a coffee that has a delicate balance of bitterness and sweetness that makes a lot of people fall in love with it.
In addition to egg coffee, international visitors are also very interested in egg beer here. Only 35,000 VND for a cup of egg coffee and 50,000 VND for an egg beer.
The restaurant space is an old house in Hanoi's Old Quarter with a dark and narrow entrance. The seats are also small with wooden tables and chairs, when crowded, they still have to sit close to each other. The restaurant has a small outdoor space.
