Son Ba Muoi

Son-Ba-Muoi, also known as Cao Sơn, encompasses three hamlets: Son, Bá, and Mười, situated at the highest point of Lũng Cao commune, Bá Thước district, Thanh Hóa province. Running parallel to the Pù Luông mountain range, the village sits at an altitude of nearly 1,200 meters above sea level. This is the primary habitat of the Black Thai ethnic group, whose lives are relatively isolated from the outside world. With an average temperature of about 18 - 22 degrees Celsius, Son Ba Mươi is often compared to Sapa or the misty city of Đà Lạt in Thanh Hóa. Son Ba Muoi remains relatively untouched by human impact, earning it poetic descriptions as "flower of the mountain forest" or "ethereal paradise." In the blooming season, the hillside is adorned with flowers overlooking the vast fields below, while snow can blanket everything, creating a picturesque scene in the winter. Visiting Son Bá Mười, you'll have the chance to savor simple agricultural products and specialties such as xôi nếp nương (sticky rice with corn), su su (chayote) shoots, hill chicken, Cổ Lũng duck, bitter gourd soup, grass-fed pork, dandelion greens, wild banana flower salad, and preserved bamboo shoots with chili.
