The highlight of this hotel is the Pool and Beach, which look just as beautiful in real life to the photos. That is the one and only reason the hotel gets a 4*, and is realistically a mid 3*.
The room was lovely and large, with big balcony looking out towards the more jungle side and main road. Cleanliness was fine, and the sheets were clean, but it definitely wasn’t up to regular 4* standards. When we arrived there was a dubious puddle in the middle of the room no one seemed to understand where it came from. It was quickly cleaned up, but doesn’t fill you with confidence.
The beach, whilst pretty, definitely didn’t have enough sun loungers. The hotel is primarily occupied with Russian tourists (and the hotel is very geared towards them), which is fine, however they all seemed to feel the need to save sun loungers for friends that never arrived. A couple days we had to pay to use next doors, as all of our hotels were full by 10am. There was a flow though and so you could often bag one back by the afternoon.
Service was ok, but there were frequent language barriers for simple questions. That said, we got there in the end every time. Small things were missed, like someone to collect lunch plates from the beach, or the option to order drinks from the beach would have felt a lot better.
Food was good, although nothing special. Wide variety breakfast with an egg station, and a good lunch menu. All very edible but nothing to write home about.
Location wise, it’s on a beautiful palm lined beach with lots of other hotels gently scattered up the beach, which were easy to wonder to for drinks, lunches and dinners. It was about a 5 minute drive up to the main strip of restaurants and bars and 10 to the night market.
Overall, we had a really great time staying here, but it’s a 3* with a pretty beach not 4*. If you’re happy to use the beach, and get out and about, or Russian, it’s a great spot.
