Thien Pa - a village with a wall under the Lung Cu flagpole

Translated by Bing
Thien Pa, located at the foot of the Lung Cu flagpole, still retains many traditional features of the Mong people such as the way of life or the house with a yin and yang tile roof.

Thien Pa village in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district is located at the foot of Dragon Mountain, where the Lung Cu flagpole is located, which is considered the northernmost point of Vietnam. At the foot of Dragon Mountain, there are two freshwater lakes called "Dragon's Eye" by locals all year round that never run out. The lake on the left is located near Lo Lo Chai village , the lake on the right is near Thien Pa village.

Located about 26 km from Dong Van town, Thien Pa still retains many long-standing traditional cultural features of the Mong ethnic people. In particular, in a small village of the village, there are 10 households who are brothers in the Vang family, who have lived here for more than 100 years. The houses are all walled houses (earthen walls), roofed with yin and yang tiles. People wear brocade costumes every day to work and live.

In the early morning, the village was engulfed in a hazy fog. At the entrance to the village, there are two rows of ancient sand trees, hundreds of years old. Sa Moc is a woody tree with coniferous straight stems and horizontal branches growing in layers. They are also a symbolic tree for the Dong Van rocky plateau (Ha Giang) because of its intense vitality.

Thien Pa owns its own beauty in the seasons of the year. In spring, the pink color of peach blossoms, the white color of pear blossoms covers the mountainsides, village roads, and people's gardens with bright colors. Summer is the season of green corn fields, watching the clear water of the Dragon's Eye Lake. In autumn, ripe rice terraces create a poetic golden season scene. Entering winter, the village is immersed in fog in the early morning.

Previously, the life of the people of Thien Pa revolved around gardening, animal husbandry, and cultivation. In 2021, realizing the tourism potential of the village, Mr. Vu Gia Dai, a Thai Nguyen native who came to Ha Giang to do tourism since 2008, has invested in building a number of tourism services in Thien Pa.

The traditional walled houses of the people are remodeled according to the old architecture, combined as homestays to serve tourists. Besides, he also opened a restaurant serving local specialties such as thang co, black chicken hotpot, and menmen.

The slow and calm pace of life of the people in the village is a simple way to help tourists live slowly and enjoy life.

Currently, visitors to Thien Pa can stay at homestay rooms in local houses with prices ranging from 150,000 to 180,000 VND per night. In the village, there are local people who provide services to take guests to tourist attractions such as the Lung Cu flagpole, the northernmost point in fact or other pristine villages and villages.

The village is located right at the foot of the Lung Cu flagpole, which is convenient for tourists to experience watching the sunrise at the beginning of the country. Standing on the top of Dragon Mountain, visitors will be able to admire the panoramic view of the Thien Van valley on the left and the upper reaches of the Nho Que River on the right.
