Lo Lo Chai - A peaceful fairy tale village in the North Pole of Ha Giang

Translated by Bing
Lo Lo Chai village (in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district) is located close to the northernmost point of Vietnam, about 1.5 km from the Lung Cu flagpole. Lo Lo Chai is a place that still retains many traditional cultural features with houses from many generations of Lo Lo people.

Keeping mountains and forests in the northernmost part of the country, Lo Lo Chai village, inhabited by the majority of Lo Lo people (one of the very few ethnic groups in Vietnam) appears peaceful, poetic and ancient with centuries-old old houses, wall houses,  yin-yang tile roof, stone fence. The beautiful scenery in Lo Lo Chai is also created by year-round flower seasons such as Peach blossoms, Plums, pears, Canola, buckwheat triangle, daisies and other landscape flowers.

Lo Lo Chai village almost retains intact the cultural features from ancient times, from the material and spiritual life of the Lo Lo people in the Stone Plateau; house architecture with tiled roofs; traditional boat occupations such as embroidery and carpentry,... to traditional festivals such as forest god worship ceremony, new rice celebration, new house celebration and especially folk dances.

The walled houses of the Lo Lo people have brown earthen walls looming behind stone fences that not only bring beauty in the highlands but also show the simple but no less solid homemaking technique of the highlanders. Houses here are mainly built of clay and meat soil, The fence wall was erected of stone.

In order to be suitable for tourism, households have renovated and made more closed cleaning, convenient for visitors to eat and live, but do not affect the external architecture and the overall. The homestays are arranged in traditional style, drinking table system, spacious common living space. Ancient artifacts of the Lo Lo people are also displayed in the rooms, creating a closeness and friendliness.

For convenience, guests here can book rooms, order meals on Facebook, Zalo. Business households update daily on the declaration of groceries and temporary absences on private groups. Homestay rentals in Lo Lo Chai currently range from 150,000 VND to 800,000 VND per night, depending on the community room (dorm) or private room. The rooms are clean.

The famous café that visitors to Ha Giang often visit to enjoy and feel the highland culture is called "North Pole Coffee". This is also an extreme "virtual life" spot that any guest wants to save when visiting.

Coming to Lo Lo Cha, you can see young girls and middle-aged women dressed in their ethnic costumes. Among the branches of the Lo Lo people, the most beautiful and colorful costume is that of the Lo Lo Hoa people with the main black color. The costumes of the Lo Lo women, regardless of the group, are always present and shining as the soul and personality of the Lo Lo people who have lived in the rocky plateau for hundreds of years.
