Lovely Hoi An through the graphic strokes of Australian tourists

Translated by Bing
The love for Vietnam's famous old town has been fully recreated by the Australian female tourist through cartoon drawings.

Anna Barnes is an Australian female painter. She came to Hoi An (Quang Nam) for the first time in 2012 and had great affection for the Central Old Town. Barnes is the head of Art Food Culture, a unit specializing in organizing local cultural experience tours for foreign visitors when coming to Hoi An. Besides his business, Barnes is also known as a painter with a cute and simple style.

Barnes' paintings of Hoi An through Barnes' artistic eyes make many tourists love the famous old town even more. Featured in the photos posted by her are the cuisine and life in Hoi Chi Street. This is also understandable because Barnes has a great love for traditional cuisine. She has 25 years of experience working in restaurants in Australia.

The reason she started painting about Vietnam stemmed from her fear of traffic. "My son keeps running and jumping everywhere. Here, I don't feel safe looking at motorbikes on the side of the road. Therefore, I took photos of the market, the sellers... When I get home, I spend time reflecting on what happened by recreating them through paintings," she said.

Barnes likes the painting of Ms. Tuat, a cake seller in Hoi An. "I paint about Ms. Tuat every time I have the opportunity to come to Hoi An, about 6 times a year. She only wanted to sell things to the locals, so she moved the shop out of the city center. I always irritate Ms. Tuat because of painting. I have to promise you not to reveal this place to other visitors. Still, she probably wouldn't believe me," Barnes said.

Barnes' ability to "transmit the soul" through paintings impressed many people. Her personal social network has more than 8,000 followers. Barnes received a Master's degree in 3D Animation in Sydney. In the introduction of himself, this artist revealed that he also received an honorary award from the dean. Barnes also holds a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Social Anthropology, majoring in Southeast Asian Studies.

The Vietnamese dishes that Barnes likes the most are banh can, banh cuon, vermicelli with shrimp paste, pho Hoi An (eaten with green papaya and peanuts), pressed cakes.

Barnes has returned to Australia because my son is still studying in Australia. She will return to Vietnam as soon as she can.
