Camping by Séo My Ty Lake, the highest freshwater lake in Vietnam

Translated by Bing
Located about 20 km from Sapa town, Séo My Ty Lake is a suitable place for those who like to explore. This is the highest artificial freshwater lake in Vietnam, blessed with beautiful scenery.

Seo My Ty - a new land that still retains the characteristics of the Hmong village in Sapa (Lao Cai) with roofs roofed with silk wood boards, terraced fields winding around the highest artificial lake in Indochina, peach trees, plum trees, vegetable gardens, cattle herds make you have a strange sense of peace.

Seo My Ty - a tourist destination that is quite new to tourists when visiting Sapa National Tourist Area, is a small hamlet of Ta Van commune, located deep in the core of Hoang Lien National Park, about 20km from Sa Pa. This place converges many potentials to develop various types of ecotourism, culture associated with the new Mong ethnic community of Sa Pa, attracting tourists who prefer peace and exploring nature, mountains and forests in the Northwest.

To reach Seo My Ty, visitors will go through the most beautiful road in Sa Pa – Muong Hoa valley, then continue through the center of Lao Chai commune, Ta Van or ancient rock beach. From the center of Ta Van going up Seo My Ty road is quite difficult to travel, only suitable for motorbikes or 2-bridge cars because this is a new destination. In return, you will be able to see the panoramic view of Muong Hoa valley, heritage terraced fields, beautiful bamboo forests strictly protected by indigenous people...

After about 1 hour of driving, you will be amazed by the peaceful, poetic natural scenery, almost separate from the noisy life in the city. In front of you is the clear blue Seo My Ty lake, known as the highest artificial lake in Indochina. The lake is about 60 hectares wide formed after the construction of Séo Trung Ho hydropower. On the rippling surface of the lake , sometimes small boats appear, bamboo arrays serve the travel needs of people on both sides of the lake bed and serve tourists to take photos.

The poetic scenery will make you think of frames in cinematic works or famous cups somewhere. In another corner are fish cages set up by people around the lake to release salmon and other fish to take advantage of the clean water in the lake bed, this is also one of the important sources of income contributing to improving the lives of Seo My Ty people.

Around the bed of Seo My Ty Lake is home to about 80 Hmong households that have settled and cultivated here for generations, almost retaining the characteristics of the Hmong village in Sapa with roofs roofed with wooden boards, The terraced fields winding around wooden houses, peach trees, plum trees, vegetable gardens, herds of cattle make you have a strange sense of peace.

Coming to Seo My Ty, you should also spend time walking in the primeval forest with local people, watching the vast forests, many precious woods, listening to the holy birds singing somewhere behind the trees, watching the green cardamom forest waiting for the harvest day...
