Stunning location, perfect to catch the sunset over the water. Service was attentive, efficient, friendly and genuinely warm - which is quite a feat to achieve on this small island where it is significantly challenging to train, develop and retain good people at any time, let alone during a global pandemic.
Food quality was excellent overall - our 500g tenderloin steak was cooked to perfection, though our guest s rib-eye steak was slightly above the medium rare that he had requested.
I was however significantly disappointed with the quality of the truffle mashed potato that came with our tenderloin which was on the Daily Specials Board as one enters the venue. There was another tenderloin on the A La Carte menu, but I specifically chose the tenderloin from the Daily Specials Board as I had a craving for truffle mash. The mash was runny, watery, and one could barely taste any truffle oil whatsoever, nor was there barely any scent of truffle oil either. After commenting to the staff that we were disappointed with the mash, there was no offer to replace it or offer to exchange it to something else - we were simply told that truffles aren t in season, so truffle oil has been used instead....and then she pointed to the layer of oil (not truffle oil, I can assure you) surrounding the edge of the mash. Nonetheless a minor hiccup in what was otherwise a perfect evening.
Definitely worthwhile visiting when you re in Phu Quoc
