Phia Thap Incense Village

Along National Highway 3 from Cao Bang to Trung Khanh is the peaceful Phia Thap village at the foot of Pha Hung mountain with typical stilt houses of the Nung An people. Phia Thap has been known for its traditional incense making for hundreds of years. In Phia Thap, Nung An people live by making incense, the whole incense making village, from children to old women are involved in the production process. Incense making has been passed down from generation to generation. Phia Thap Incense is completely chemical-free, people go to the forest to pick gourd leaves that grow naturally on the cliffs, bring them to dry, scatter and use as a natural adhesive between powders and incense sticks. In recent years, Phia Thap village has started to do community tourism, welcoming tourists from all over the world to rest, learn about the life of the village. Incense making experience is one of the programs that attract visitors here.
