Che Tao Species and Habitat Conservation Area is located in the communes of Che Tao, Nam Khat, Pung Luong, Lao Chai, De Xu Phan, about 10km south of Mu Cang Chai town. Located on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, the Mu Cang Chai mountain forest is considered the most beautiful primeval forest and has high biodiversity. This place also has many species of broad-leaved trees, conifers and rich and endemic flora and fauna such as sagebrush, rhododendrons, laotian oaks, jet black gibbons or gray langurs. In the flowering season, the forest is covered with rhododendrons and orchids blooming mesmerizingly. Around the primeval forests is the population of most of the Mong ethnic people with a rich and unique folk culture. After the journey to explore the primeval forest, visitors return to the Mong village to eat menmen, sticky rice, lam rice dipped with bamboo shoots and wild vegetables, drink a bowl of warm corn wine with highland people, it is wonderful.
