The beauty of Dong Khanh King's Mausoleum, the mausoleum has just opened after many years of restoration

Translated by Bing
The mausoleum of King Dong Khanh is an important ancient structure in the ancient monument complex of Hue, located between Thieu Tri and Tu Duc mausoleums. The mausoleum of the 9th king of the Nguyen dynasty is located in the middle of the quiet countryside, in the area of Thuy Thuy village, Duong Xuan general, now Upper Hai village, Thuy Xuan commune in Hue city.

January to April, the spring weather is pleasant, no rain, not too hot is the ideal time to visit Dong Khanh mausoleum.

The entrance in the tiled mausoleum, the sides of the pine forest are cool.

Not long in office, the impression is not much, the story as well as the tomb of King Dong Khanh is rarely mentioned in the list of famous places of The Ancient Capital of Hue.

Most of the architectural works in the current Dong Khanh mausoleum were built under King Khai Dinh.

King Dong Khanh, whose name is Nguyen Phuc Falcon Thi, ascended to the throne as Nguyen Phuc Biện. He was the adopted son of King Tu Duc, who stayed in office from 1885 to 1889, and was the ninth emperor of the Nguyen dynasty in Vietnamese history.

When the king died at the age of 25, he still did not have time to build his tomb. So when King Thanh Thai succeeded the throne, he used the previously unfinished palace as a place to worship his father Dong Khanh and chose the land in the southwest, about 100m away to bury him.

In terms of architectural knowledge, The Mausoleum of King Dong Khanh is no different from the previous King Nguyen's mausoleums, in both mausoleums and impregnated areas there are about 20 large and small structures with a relatively thick density.

The work of building and repairing and building new works in the mausoleum of King Dong Khanh has lasted for 35 years and went through 4 different kings, from Dong Khanh, Thanh Thai, Duy Tan to Khai Dinh.

The road leading to Dong Khanh Mausoleum is easy to go, even for those who are visiting Hue for the first time. Guests can rent a car, take a taxi or drive their own motorbike to explore the peaceful countryside.
