Dramatic bull racing competitions on the mud in An Giang

Translated by Bing
The fierce competition on the mud of 20 pairs of cows left many emotions for hundreds of spectators present at the race course of Ro Pagoda, Tinh Bien (An Giang).

The Chua Ro bull racing festival in Tinh Bien district, An Giang, took place on the morning of September 18 with the participation of 20 pairs. This is one of the activities that attracts the attention of people and visitors every Don Ta festival of Khmer compatriots.

In the meantime, the cow owner takes care of his pet very meticulously and attentively. Mr. Dao Van Huynh, pleaded with the Khmer cow to be confident with his "opponent". "This year I've seen pairs of cows with pretty similar strength. It is difficult to talk about the award but I believe my cow will win," Huynh said.

According to Huynh, the winning cows will be kept as a valuable family asset and not sold. The people here believe that, if it happens, it will bring the whole commune a lot of joy and luck about a good harvest.

Before starting, each pair of cows is rehearsed through the racetrack to familiarize themselves with the course and understand the terrain and distance traveled. According to the organizers, the quality of this year's bull teams is not too different. The pairs of bulls then gathered in a nearby vacant lot, waiting for time to enter the field for the ceremony and draw a draw to divide the pairs.

Around the shore of the racetrack, people came to see the seats, including many tourists from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. HCMC and some other localities also flocked to Tinh Bien.

The pairs raced through two rounds of course, about 120m each. The organizers call the first round the "rough round", the second round the "drop round".

The cows must stand firmly, if they fall or fall off the harrowing rig, they will lose.

The dramatic thrilling chases of the teams create a jubilant and bustling atmosphere.

The No. 11 pair's bull scrambled off the harrowing rig, after which he was buried in the bog.

An Giang has many bull racing courses such as Chau Doc, Tinh Bien, Tri Ton, in which Chua Ro yard always has hundreds of photographers coming to compose each time. Here, the lane is wide enough, water and mud create a shadow, which is the reason for the mechanics' preference.

Throughout the competition, there were many frightening situations for spectators as several pairs of bulls rushed towards the position where many people sat on the edge of the track.

Today's winning pair of cows will be represented by the district at the Seven Mountains Bull Race, An Giang province, to be held at the end of September.
