An Hien garden house, where time stops in dreamy Hue

Translated by Bing
Located next to the romantic Perfume River, An Hien garden house is a unique architecture, attracting a lot of tourists in Hue.

An Hien garden house was built on a large campus from about the end of the nineteenth century. Surrounding the old house is a large garden planted with many cool trees. Although it has existed over the years, this house still retains the original ancient landscape and architecture.

An Hien Garden House is located at 58 Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street – Xuan Hoa Village – Huong Long Commune – Hue City with the main side facing the Perfume River and right next to Da Vien Bridge. Thanks to the convenient location, from the garden house, you can see a glimpse of Thien Mu Pagoda and also easily visit many other famous attractions in Hue.

Welcoming you first is the archway built of lime and mortar bricks, which over time has been covered with moss. Along the entrance to the house is a long path with two rows of soaring trees planted intertwined with each other.

Turning your left hand towards the garden house, you will encounter an ancient screen decorated with the word "Tho" with the meaning of preventing all bad things from entering the house. In addition, in front of the house, there is also a rectangular lotus pool built according to feng shui garden architecture in ancient times.

In the middle of the large green garden is a traditional old house of 135m2 built in the style of a house architecture consisting of 3 pavilions and 2 branches. In particular, the nave is the worship area and the two adjacent naves are the reception place. Similarly, the two gables are divided as living quarters for males on the left and females on the right.

The entire frame of the house is made of wood with the main truss system sculpted with extremely sophisticated ancient patterns. The roof tiles are layered, adored on both sides and lotus-shaped at the top of the roof.

An Hien garden house currently preserves many ancient memorabilia of the Nguyen Dynasty. Typically, the 4-word diaphragm "Van Vo Trung Hieu" hung in the nave was given by King Bao Dai to the owner in 1937.

In particular, the space of the house is decorated with many ancient utensils from wooden tables and chairs, tea cabinets to tea cups. All interiors are neatly arranged according to the feng shui elements of traditional Vietnamese house architecture.

An Hien garden house is not only attracted by the ancient features of the house but also by the poetic natural scenery and the garden all year round with fruit. Here, you will experience the fresh taste of quadrilateral fruits such as lychee, mangosteen, jackfruit, grapefruit, dragon fruit ...

After the visit to explore An Hien garden house, you also have the opportunity to enjoy delicious cakes or relax with the wistful Hue song right in the garden space.

During more than 100 years of existence, An Hien gardener has witnessed many ups and downs of history and the harshness of time. The house is still there as a peaceful place, a unique cultural tourist destination of the ancient capital.
