An Hien Gardener, where time stops in the dreamy Hue

Translated by Bing
Located next to the poetic Huong River, An Hien Garden House is a unique architectural work, attracting a large number of tourists in Hue.

An Hien Garden House was built on a large campus from around the end of the nineteenth century. Surrounding the old house is a large garden planted with many cool trees. Although it has existed over the years, this house still retains its original ancient landscape and architecture.

An Hien Garden House is located at 58 Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street – Xuan Hoa Village – Huong Long Commune – Hue City with the main face facing the Huong River and right next to Da Vien Bridge. Thanks to the convenient location, from the garden house, you can overlook Thien Mu Pagoda and also easily visit many other famous attractions in Hue.

The first thing that greets you is the arch built of lime bricks, which over time has been covered with moss. Along the entrance of the house is a long road with two rows of soaring greenery planted intertwined.

Turn left towards the garden house, you will see a picture of an ancient screen decorated with the word "Tho" with the meaning of preventing all bad things from entering the house. In addition, in front of the house there is also a rectangular lotus pond built according to feng shui garden architecture in ancient times.

In the middle of the large green garden campus is a traditional old house with an area of 135m2 built in the style of a house architecture consisting of 3 compartments and 2 pavilions. In which, the middle pavilion is a worship area and the two next pavilions are the reception area. Similarly, the two houses are divided into men's living quarters on the left and women on the right.

The entire frame of the house is made of wood with the main truss system sculpted with extremely sophisticated ancient cultural features. The tile roof is roofed in many layers, covered with dragons on both sides and lotus-shaped at the top of the roof.

An Hien Garden House currently also preserves a lot of ancient memorabilia of the Nguyen Dynasty court. Typically, the 4-word diaphragm "Van Vo Trung Hieu" was hung in the middle hall given by King Bao Dai to the owner in 1937.

In particular, the space of the house is decorated with many ancient utensils from wooden tables and chairs, tea cabinets to tea teapots. All interiors are neatly arranged according to the feng shui elements of traditional Vietnamese house architecture.

An Hien garden house is not only attractive because of the ancient features of the house but also because of the poetic natural scenery and the garden is full of fruits all year round. Here, you will experience the fresh flavors of fruits from all over the world such as lychee, mangosteen, jackfruit, grapefruit, dragon fruit...

After the tour to explore An Hien garden house, you also have the opportunity to enjoy delicious cakes or let your soul go to the heartfelt Hue song right in the garden house space.

During more than 100 years of existence, An Hien garden house has witnessed many ups and downs of history and the harshness of time. The house is still there now as a peaceful place, a unique cultural tourist destination of the ancient capital.
