Located in the center of District 1, Notre Dame Cathedral completed its Christmas decorations on December 5, attracting people to visit and take pictures. This is the second time the 144-year-old church has decorated for Christmas since its restoration in 2017.
Two weeks before Christmas, Notre Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City uses 500,000 meters of LED lights to illuminate it. In between the two bell towers is attached the colorful star of Bethlehem. The front of Notre Dame Cathedral is decorated with elaborate and eye-catching miniatures. In front of hundreds of bright lights, the marble statue of Our Lady of Peace in front of the church is more prominent.
For the first time, the church lit up the entire building, so on this occasion, every corner of the surrounding street attracted people to take pictures and check-in. Last year, only two bell towers in front were lit by 80,000m of lights. The brilliant space of Notre Dame Cathedral makes everyone want to take beautiful pictures of this place.
The restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral was carried out on July 1, 2017 and is still in the completion stage. Even so, the Christmas celebration here still takes place as every year. In 2 main days, December 24 and 25, Mass will be celebrated.
Visitors can enjoy panoramic views and take photos of the cathedral from places such as the walking lane at Paris Commune, Le Duan, Pham Ngoc Thach or the noble garden at Diamond Plaza. The building has a Gothic architectural style, using materials imported from France. Around the cathedral are 56 stained-glass doors, recreating portraits of saints and typical events in the Bible. Visitors can enter the museum for free outside of public holidays.
