Lost in the land of "A Thousand and One Nights" in An Giang

Translated by Bing
Located by the Hau River, hidden in the Cham village, Masjid Jamiul Azhar Mosque exudes mysterious and enchanting beauty. This place is known as the land of "A Thousand and One Nights" of An Giang.

Masjid Jamiul Azhar, located in Chau Phong Commune, Tan Chau Town, An Giang, is one of the largest and most beautiful mosques in Vietnam. With its pure white color combined with turquoise, this cathedral is not only a religious place but also a tourist attraction.

Completed in 1959, the cathedral has undergone many restorations to become a religious symbol of An Giang. Inside the mosque gate is a small cemetery, where many Muslims from all over the world are buried.

Masjid Jamiul Azhar is a place of education and worship for the Muslim community, mainly Sunni Cham. Inside the chapel, there is only the crescent moon and star symbol, no other divine image. The mosque space is always clean, believers must leave their shoes outside and sanitize their limbs before entering.

The Islamic culture of the Cham people here contributes to enriching the national cultural identity. Muslim women usually pray at home but can still go to the mosque to pray.

The crescent moon and star symbol represent devotion to Allah, the supreme God. The bow-shaped structure is characteristic of Islamic architecture, appearing both at the entrance and inside the mosque. Believers come to the cathedral 5 times a day to celebrate Mass and pray, especially on the 6th day.

Although An Giang is developing rapidly, the Masjid Jamiul Azhar mosque still retains its distinctive and unique features.
