Tet Doan Ngo, also known as Tet Doan Duong, is celebrated at Ngo Time, the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar every year. This is a traditional New Year's Day in some East Asian countries such as Vietnam, North Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China. "Doan" means the beginning, "Ngo" is the time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., eating Doan Ngo New Year is eating at noon. That is, when the sun starts shortest, closest to heaven and earth. In Vietnam, Tet Doan Ngo is also known by the rather popular name that is "Tet killing vermin". Simply put, this is the day of launching the catch of vermin, destroying all pests that harm crops.
