The Ox not only Ox
Add collectionContact Information
The Ox not only Ox is located at the end of a small alley on Dong Du Street, District 1. Nestled in the middle of the bustling center, the restaurant chooses a discreet location just enough to make any guest feel like falling into a mysterious palace, with a large water tank and green trees in the main lobby, leading into the luxurious restaurant space inside.
Just across from the entrance is a tall bar containing a well-stocked wine collection. In the perpendicular direction is the kitchen that extends the width of the restaurant. Under the high ceiling with a large chandelier are about 30 sets of tables and chairs neatly arranged, not forgetting to decorate with a shimmering candle and fresh vases that are replaced daily. The restaurant also has a mezzanine floor with open views that can welcome people up and down through an elevator right at the entrance.
The main course menu includes meats: chicken, pork, beef, fish,... combined with very familiar ingredients of Vietnam such as basil, coriander, hash greens, ginger, lemongrass, Hoi An peppers, lotus seeds, fish sauce ,... creating the restaurant's unique fusion cuisine.

We enjoyed a super evening. The food is inspired; delicious and beautiful. And the staff clearly care that their clients enjoy the experience. Our dinner here contributed significantly to our great experience of Saigon. Kudos to the chef and the team. We are grateful!

I visited in a group of 4 on Saturday 25/6 at 7pm. The meet and greet was pleasant and we were seated within a few minutes. Our waitress was a pleasant young lady whose English was more than acceptable and welcome. Entrees were good, mains were ok as were the accompanying sides. The musical duo added to the general ambience too. This establishment loses points for minor things that obviously add up. Additional coffees were ordered but not received. A glass of wine was also ordered but not received, even though a second staff member came and advised one of my guests that the wine he had selected was unavailable and a second option was agreed to, but, not received. And what grated more than the above was that if we are paying over 150vnd for a bottle of water, Italian I believe, at least have the awareness to open the bottles at the table. Common sense I’d have assumed. They did however remove the tiramisu that was definitely nqr. Overall, the restaurant is ok, but it feels as though most of the attention is focused solely on the food and not the whole experience.
