The Ox not only Ox
Add collectionContact Information
The Ox not only Ox is located at the end of a small alley on Dong Du Street, District 1. Nestled in the middle of the bustling center, the restaurant chooses a discreet location just enough to make any guest feel like falling into a mysterious palace, with a large water tank and green trees in the main lobby, leading into the luxurious restaurant space inside.
Just across from the entrance is a tall bar containing a well-stocked wine collection. In the perpendicular direction is the kitchen that extends the width of the restaurant. Under the high ceiling with a large chandelier are about 30 sets of tables and chairs neatly arranged, not forgetting to decorate with a shimmering candle and fresh vases that are replaced daily. The restaurant also has a mezzanine floor with open views that can welcome people up and down through an elevator right at the entrance.
The main course menu includes meats: chicken, pork, beef, fish,... combined with very familiar ingredients of Vietnam such as basil, coriander, hash greens, ginger, lemongrass, Hoi An peppers, lotus seeds, fish sauce ,... creating the restaurant's unique fusion cuisine.

We enjoyed a super evening. The food is inspired; delicious and beautiful. And the staff clearly care that their clients enjoy the experience. Our dinner here contributed significantly to our great experience of Saigon. Kudos to the chef and the team. We are grateful!

We went there on a Saturday night.
The ground floor was booked for a birthday party.
We ordered the Squid salad, a seasonal mushroom soup, slow cooked beef rib and grilled lamb rack.
The Squid salad is nothing special, I will give it a mark of 50. But for the mushroom soup, sorry to say it just likes putting the mushroom in the water and serve, no taste and nothing.
But the slow cooked beef rib was good, 85 marks may be, and the lamb rack was marvelous, texture and taste are excellent, highly recommended.
For service, I would say is amateurish. the young male waiter just ok but did not know how to introduce the menu. We got two main dishes and he just gave us one knife, might be he would like to see us eating the lamb rack with our hands.
When the mushroom served was served, it was a little bit full and the female waitress just put it on the table carelessly and some soup fell out from the bowl onto the table. All she did is saying that it is full to herself and just gone away without cleaning it and saying sorry.
Overall, main dishes are good but you won’t feel happy to have the meal there with only 50% of the food is ok with a poor service……May come again for the lamb but definitely not a place you will feel excited about to visit frequently.
